Cosmetic surgery
Rhinoseptoplasty (plastic operation of nose and nasal septum)
Septorhinoplasty (rhinoseptoplasty) is indicated with all shape deviations such as post-traumatic or inborn. A deviated nasal septum results in reduced nasal passageway, deteriorated air filtration, recurrence of sinus infection, snoring and sometimes in a cosmetic defect. During the operation the nasal septum is reconstructed and an osteotome is used to cut the nasal bone. Occasionally, laser mucotomy is added to the procedure. There are two techniques of rhinoseptoplasty. During the closed technique an operative cut is performed in the nasal entrance whereas during the open technique a small cosmetically invisible incision is done to the nasal columella. Finally, a gentle nasal swab containing an antibiotic ointment is inserted into the nasal passage and the nose is covered with a splint for two weeks. The procedure takes between 1-3 hours depending on the gravity of the defect. Rhinoseptoplasty is also used to adjust a bumpy, aquiline or saddle nose.
Plastic operation of rhinophyma (enlarged tissue at the tip of the nose)
Rhinophyma is a chronic disease of the nasal tip and ridge caused by hypertrophy of the sebaceous glands creating sebum. Hypertrophy can lead to unwanted swallowing of the nose and its appearance is bothersome for patients. However there is a simple solution. The rhinophyma operation consists of a gentle removal of the hypertrophied tissue with radio frequency cautery of laser. The procedure is performed under local anaesthesia or under intra intravenous analgosedation. The procedure takes between 30-60 minutes depending on the extent of the hypertrophied tissue. Keep in mind that the healing process takes 3-6 weeks and it is necessary to change the dressing regularly (every second day). The recommended time for rhinophyma operation is autumn and winter when the patient is not exposed to excessive sunshine.
Otoplasty (plastic operation of protruding ears)
In general or local anaesthesia we reshape protruding ears. During otoplasty a cut is made behind the auricle. Auricle reconstruction is made by incision, scoring or by taking out parts of the cartilage. The cartilage is closed together with dissolvable stitches.
After the surgery the wound is carefully covered and the dressing can be taken off within a week. After otoplasty it is essential to wear a headband for 6 weeks, thus it is not advisable to perform the surgery in summer time. This procedure is now covered by the health insurance companies VZP and 211.
Laser removal of facial veins
Laser fibrotic sealing of enlarged veins on the face.
Defect removal from skin and mucous membrane
Pathological skin tissue or mucous tissue can cause haemorrhagic malfunction in the place of lesion, it can increase its volume and if it is not removed, it is impossible to identify its histological nature. The defect is removed surgically or with a laser with the skin adapted by subcuticular and dermal sutures. Bleeding is stopped with coagulation or laser. The removed tissue is sent for a histological examination to determine the nature of the sample.
This is used to operate on:
atheroma (inflammation of oil-gland)
fibroma (benign tumour)
papilloma (benign tumour on mucous membrane)
lipoma (benign tumour created from sebaceous glands)
nodules
verruca (wart and wart outgrowths)
pigmented nevi
fistula (abnormal passageway connection between organs, blood vessels or even on outer skin)
and other suspicious formations
