Laryngology

Our consultancy focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of voice, swallowing and laryngopharyngeal reflux diseases and disorders. Apart from the common ENT, an examination of the respiratory and swallowing tracts is performed with modern endoscopes containing a small micro camera on their end (so called „chip-on-the-tip“) that allows perfect imaging of the examined body part. During a vocal cords examination we add a stroboscope examination that depicts the vocal cords’ vibration, which due to its high frequency is not visible during an ordinary examination. Thus the examination is able to reveal even the slightest changes in the early stage of the disease, which is especially important in cases of a malign nature.

What do we offer at our Laryngology centre?

• Diagnostics and treatment of disorders of voice, swallowing and laryngopharyngeal reflux.
• Detailed endoscopy (chip-on-the-tip technology) examination, incl. stroboscopy.
• Narrow Band Imaging (NBI) examination designed to reveal early tumorous changes on the mucous membrane of the breathing and swallowing system.
• Examination of laryngopharyngeal reflux using 24-hour oropharyngeal pH monitoring Restech (FORTMEDICA is one of four clinics in the Czech Republic certified for this procedure).
• FEES examination: functional endoscopic evaluation of swallowing of patients with oropharyngeal dysphagia, feeling of unknown object or neurologic problems.
• Sonography – ultrasound diagnostics in the area of head and throat (thyroid gland, salivary glands, lymph nodes, throat cysts, paranasal sinuses).
• Complex voice therapy incl. osteopathic treatment of functional voice and swallowing disorder.
• Vocal professionals’ treatment (i.e. not only singers and actors, but anyone who needs their voice for their profession).
